October 18, 2024 Third Quarter Earnings Release

Announces Strong Third Quarter Performance

Warrenton, VA, October 18, 2024 - Oak View Bankshares, Inc. (the “Company”) (OTC Pink: OAKV), parent company of Oak View National Bank (the “Bank”), reported net income of $1.46 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, compared to net income of $1.18 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2023, an increase of 22.97%.  Net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2024, was $4.63 million, compared to $3.23 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2023, an increase of 43.10%. 

Basic and diluted earnings per share were $0.50 per share for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, compared to $0.40 for the quarter ended September 30, 2023.  Basic and diluted earnings per share for the nine months ended September 30, 2024, were $1.58 compared to $1.09 for the nine months ended September 30, 2023.

Selected Highlights: 

Net Interest Income
The net interest margin was 2.92% for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, compared to 2.95% for the quarter ended September 30, 2023. Net interest income was $4.67 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, compared to $4.21 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2023.  Average earning assets and the related yield increased to $637.60 million and 5.83%, respectively, for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, compared to $566.74 million and 5.45%, respectively, for the quarter ended September 30, 2023.  Average interest-bearing liabilities and the related cost of funds increased to $516.12 million and 3.00%, respectively, for the quarter ended September 30, 2024, compared to $449.56 million and 2.59%, respectively, for the quarter ended September 30, 2023.   

The net interest margin was 2.94% for the nine months ended September 30, 2024, compared to 2.99% for the nine months ended September 30, 2023. Net interest income was $13.45 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2024, compared to $11.96 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2023.  Average earning assets and the related yield increased to $612.60 million and 5.80%, respectively, for the nine months ended September 30, 2024, compared to $535.41 million and 5.14%, respectively, for the nine months ended September 30, 2023.  Average interest-bearing liabilities and the related cost of funds increased to $496.35 million and 2.97%, respectively, for the nine months ended September 30, 2024, compared to $419.91 million and 2.22%, respectively, for the nine months ended September 30, 2023.   

Noninterest Income
Noninterest income was $0.47 million and $1.64 million for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2024, respectively, compared to $0.20 million and $0.92 million for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2023, respectively.  Contributing to noninterest income for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2024, were net gains on sales of available for sale securities of $0.04 million and $0.46 million, respectively.  Proceeds from the sale of these securities were redeployed into assets with more attractive risk and return characteristics.  Interchange fee income, resulting from increased transaction volume, of $0.20 million and $0.59 million also contributed to noninterest income for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2024.   

Noninterest Expense
Noninterest expenses were $3.23 million and $9.04 million for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2024, respectively, compared to $2.82 million and $8.47 million for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2023, respectively.  Annualized noninterest expenses to average assets were 1.96% and 1.91% for the quarter and nine months ended, September 30, 2024, respectively, compared to 1.93% and 2.05% for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2023, respectively. 

Liquidity
Liquidity remains exceptionally strong with $503.50 million of liquid assets available which included cash, unencumbered securities available for sale, and secured and unsecured borrowing capacity as of September 30, 2024, compared to $453.94 million as of December 31, 2023.  

The Company’s deposits proved to be stable with core deposits, which are defined as total deposits excluding brokered deposits, of $485.09 million as of September 30, 2024, compared to $443.55 million as of December 31, 2023. Uninsured deposits, those deposits that exceed FDIC insurance limits, were $96.43 million as of September 30, 2024, or 19.88% of total deposits, well within industry averages.

Asset Quality
As of September 30, 2024, the allowance for credit losses related to the loan portfolio was $3.01 million or 0.93% of outstanding loans, net of unearned income compared to $2.79 million or 0.92% as of December 31, 2023. The increase in the allowance for credit losses was primarily due to the growth in the loan portfolio.  

The provision for credit losses was $0.07 million and $0.20 million for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2024, respectively, compared to $0.08 million and $0.33 million for the quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2023, respectively.  

Shareholders’ Equity & Regulatory Capital
Shareholders’ equity was $37.52 million on September 30, 2024, compared to $32.67 million on December 31, 2023.   Accumulated other comprehensive loss was $1.83 million as of September 30, 2024, compared to $2.99 million as of December 31, 2023.  These unrealized losses are primarily related to mark-to-market adjustments on U.S. Treasury bonds within the available-for-sale securities portfolio related to changes in interest rates.
